W+D North America takes over operative responsibility for F.L. Smithe

Neuwied, Germany/Lenexa, KS, November 1, 2016 – To align Barry-Wehmiller’s Converting Solutions platform that includes W+D and PCMC to better suit market conditions, Shaun Kilfoyle, President/CEO of W+D North America, will assume responsibility for the team of F.L. Smithe in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, as of January 2017. Then there will be only one company within BW at the global level that focuses on the segments Envelopes and Mail.

“By making this move, we are focusing on and strengthening our forces to better meet the needs of our North American customers,” said Kilfoyle. “We at W+D are proud to take over responsibility for F.L. Smithe and will make every effort to build on the past achievements of both F.L. Smithe and W+D.”

With this realignment, Barry-Wehmiller intends to continue focusing on the group’s core competencies. In this case, W+D North America will use the Duncansville site as yet another hub for further extending its Envelope and Mail segments in the US. PCMC will be withdrawing from the envelope business and focus more on tissue, but will continue to be responsible for manufacturing all of the parts and modifications for F.L. Smithe. The service team in Duncansville will continue to serve existing customers of F.L. Smithe.
