Apprentices from W+D create sculpture for award
Neuwied, Dec 16, 2009:
For the third time, apprentices from Winkler+Dünnebier, the mechanical engineering company based in Neuwied near Koblenz, Germany, have designed and produced a prize sculpture. The sculpture is part of the “Award for International Accounting” given annually by the VDMA, the German Engineering Federation. This prize comes with a purse of € 1,500.The industrial mechanics and cutting machine operators from W+D brought the entire engineering spectrum to bear in creating this sculpture through their planning and the processing of milled, turned, drilled and back drilled parts. In order to finish the sculpture, the three apprentices, all in their second year, needed ten days from conception to completion.
Lutz-Heinrich Allert, Head of Business Accountancy at W+D and Chairman of the VDMA working group “International Accounting”, belongs to the four-member jury. He was pleased that the work of the W+D apprentices was so well received. “The members of the working group were delighted with the design,” he said.
This prize is open to business students whose final thesis has an in-depth focus on the implementation of international accounting in mechanical and plant engineering. Winning such a prestigious award leaves a positive impression in any application and increases the chances of finding a job.
